Finance Manager
Malaysia, MY - Information Technology and Services
• Manages a team of exempt individual contributors, supervisors, and Manager I that typically support a large and complex business unit or finance function.
• Responsible for hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that the proper tools are in place to support the team and the processes.
• Leads complex financial analysis for a global business or finance function, exercising a strong understanding of the business to determine the best method for achieving objectives.
• Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and analysis to the business.
• Consults with business leaders to drive and influence strategic decision-making within a broad scope (e.g., long-term business planning, product analysis and development, balancing risk, approving significant deals, etc.)
• Proactively drives process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function globally.
• Actively reviews, analyzes, and manages the key controls within the domain of responsibility to ensure compliance with legal and accounting requirements (e.g., Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Standards of Business Conduct (SBC), Accounting Financial Manual (AFM).
• Manages external vendors (e.g., auditors).
• Provides leadership during implementation of business-wide programs and products.
• Ability to influence an entire business within a broad scope.
• Typically leads large and complex business or finance process initiatives.

Controller
As a Controller you will be the lead Finance Manager in country/segment, representing HP Finance internally and externally. You will be responsible for financial planning and reporting, integrity of financial statements, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies. You will be a member of Segment/Country Leadership Team responsible for financial planning and key financial initiatives. As a country controller you will host global and region functions in country i.e. Credit & Collections, Tax, HPIP, REWS. You will work closely with HP Legal and Treasury and actively participate and provide leadership to Standards of Business Conduct Committee.

Responsibilities may include depending upon position:

1. Controllership: Ensures financial integrity of both internal (AFM and HP policy) and external (local legal statutory) planning and reporting. Ensures compliance of financial statements with US and local GAAP requirements and ensures appropriate business controls are in place for any systems and processes with financial impact. Ensures HP's assets are safeguarded and accounted for. Maintains timely and transparent disclosure of all contingencies and control deficiencies.

2. Business Finance: Ensures financial planning, reporting and analysis processes are in place to support country business plans. Ensures core business finance services are agreed to with local business management and Region Finance Leadership Board. Assigns finance resources according to agreed upon priorities. Includes establishing points of interaction and communication channels for Region FLB and Country BU management. Consults regularly with Business Mgmt and Region FLB to understand emerging plans and rebalance support accordingly. Actively engages in business finance processes and understands requirements, timing, risk areas. Provides a consolidated view of business plans to integrate and support country growth plans. Actively manages high risk areas and ensures action plans are in place.
3. Country Finance Lead: Works closely with country team. Builds and maintains close, positive working relationships with customers, account teams, peers, support partners and sales organizations. Represents HP to external business community and public sector community. Host for C&C, Tax, REWS, Internal Procurement, BPDO. Lead role for Standards of Business Conduct council in-country. Participates as part of country Crisis Management team. Ensures business continuity plans in place with a financial need or impact.

4. Finance Workforce Management: Builds a cohesive finance community focused on financial accuracy, efficiency and proactive finance support. Builds an environment based on trust, respect, teamwork, initiative and innovation. Fosters integrity in all areas. Ensures communication of strategy and progress to Finance staff and builds in feedback mechanisms that ensure bottoms-up ideas and issues are surfaced and actioned. Constantly upgrades the skills and talents of the finance staff.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:

• First level university degree with a focus in business or economics; advanced degree and/or accounting certification (e.g., Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) strongly preferred.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in a finance function.
• Typically 2+ years of supervisory and/or leading a project team experience.
