3rd Line Technical Team Manager

This is a superb opportunity to join one of South Wales' premier employers. As a Team Manager within the organisations infrastructure and support function you will pay an integral part defining and delivering a highly available, resilient and scalable infrastructure across the group. Moreover, you will support your colleague the IT Service Desk Manager in driving up the availability and performance of the infrastructure and applications which are managed within the department.



As a minimum, the role holder will be technically aware across a broad range of systems and will have responsibility for the availability of those systems, by ensuring that adequate monitoring and alerting of both new and existing applications and hardware exists. They must ensure that a highly responsive, high quality service is provided by their team to all business users within the organisation. They will lead, manage, develop and motivate their team to provide efficient and cost effective support to meet the requirements of the company.



There will be a need to work closely with other teams within the Service Desk and the rest of IT, but also with a number of external 3rd parties. The role holder will ensure that issues which have been escalated to their team will be managed appropriately and any Change items subscribe correctly to the IT Change Control process.

'Problem Management' and 'Continuous Service Improvement' are key activities of the team as well as the creation and maintaining of clear and accurate procedural documentation and training where appropriate.



Key Experience



Experience or awareness of monitoring and alerting platforms including:



· PRTG

· Halcyon

· WhatsUp? GOLD

· AppDynamics



Technical experience, ability and understanding across a number of platforms and applications:



· Avaya (Blue

· Intel

· VMware

· i5/OS

· Storage - Tivoli Service Manager

· Application Servers (JBOSS, Apache, Websphere, Tomcat)

· DNS/DHCP/Firewalls/LAN/WAN/WIFI/MPLS/Ethernet/IP

· Windows technologies: AD/Exchange/Server and Client software
