Purpose of the job

To support the Finance Director to provide effective and efficient management of the Trust's finances and sites



Liaising with

Executive Principal, Headteacher, Leadership Teams, Finance Director, Subject Leaders, Heads of House, SENCOs, Behaviour Managers, external agencies, and parents.



KEY FUNCTIONS

To assist the Finance Director in the day to day financial management of the Trust and its individual academies and maintenance of their financial records.

To prepare monthly management accounts and other internal and external reports as required.

To assist the Finance Director with financial planning, management and reporting.



SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES



Maintain the financial records of the Trust and its individual academies.

Prepare and be responsible for regular management accounts including balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, variance analysis and commentaries.

Prepare statutory accounts for the Trust.

Prepare budgets and forecasts as required.

Manage and be responsible for the monthly payroll, processing as required.

Prepare and be responsible for VAT and other LA and Government returns as required.

Line management of the Finance Assistant and Finance Officer.

Maintain and be responsible for the fixed asset registers.

Prepare cash flow forecasts as required.

Review purchase and sales ledgers, assisting the Finance Assistant and Finance Officer to resolve problems as required.

Ensure regular reconciliations of balance sheet codes are prepared.

Assist the Finance Director with cost saving initiatives.

Support the management of lettings across the Trust as required.

Provide a support service to budget holders, assisting them to manage their budgets and provide additional reports as required.

Assist the Finance Director with ensuring that a robust corporate governance structure and internal controls are in place and adhered to.

Take part in or run tender exercises as required.

Assist with the negotiation of contracts if required.

Assist the Finance Director in ensuring that value for money is obtained on all purchases.

Undertake ad-hoc projects as required.

Support the Finance Director with other reasonable requests.

Work to support the Executive Principal in the maintenance of good discipline and behaviour throughout the Academy.

Attend and participate in regular meetings and participate in training and other learning activities, as required.

Actively support and participate in the museum learning programme.

Participate in and support the performance management policy.

Be familiar with and to adhere to relevant parts of the Academy's Health & Safety policy.

Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people you are responsible for or come into contact with.

Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

Be aware of, support and ensure equal opportunities for all.

Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the Academy.

Assist in the development of the Academy Improvement Plan and its review mechanism.

Undertake other tasks as reasonably required by the Executive Principal.
