Storage Engineer XP

Key Responsibilities
The Competency Center (CC) engineer is responsible for the complete resolution of complex problems related to XP storage products, in Mission Critical environments.
It provides the highest level of technical, support, either reactive or proactive, to XP/SAN customer's world wide according to HP support policies.
The CC engineer supports the XP storage products on both HW and SW, with a broad range of HP and/or non-HP hosts and SAN products on complex configurations for Critical Business environments.
He provides direct support remotely and occasionally onsite to recover from complex and critical storage outage, within contractual timeframes, and identifies the root cause of the failure.
Candidate will provide technical assistance to:
- level 1 (Solution Center),
- Field CE,
- Escalation Engineers
- Customers.
- Problem duplication,
- Interface with other CC and higher level of support or lab/development engineers,
- Escalation and Elevation management,
- Development of knowledge base and training material,
- delivery of specific training classes, (teaching XP courses)
- Mentoring of new colleagues, from the team or from the field.
- Knowledge of some XP models, SAN switches and some OS is mandatory
- Operating systems: HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, Linux, Windows, MPE, Tru64, OpenVMS, Netware, VM-ware, Non-Stop, MF,
- SAN concepts, switches config and troubleshooting on Brocade, Cisco, McData
- XP models: 256, 48 & 512, 128 & 1024, 10k & 12k, 24k and require a holistic troubleshooting approach.
- Optional Software:
- Excellent Analytical Skills
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience in interacting/supporting Enterprise Customers
- Must be a Team player and show ability and willingness to motivate and support other engineers
Job responsibility includes working through complex environment problems which may involve OS, switch, SAN and require a holistic troubleshooting approach.
Responsibilities also include:
This position has a direct impact on HP"s storage customer satisfaction and indirect impact on sales and profitability, which will enhance HP"s leadership in storage market share and storage support services.
Qualifications :
Educational Qualification
BE or B Tech from a reputed Institute
Preferred:
BE in Electronics or Computer Science
- Knowledge of some XP models, SAN switches and some OS is mandatory
- Operating systems: HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, Linux, Windows, MPE, Tru64, OpenVMS, Netware, VM-ware, Non-Stop, MF,
