Business Development Manager

Richmond, Virginia Area, US - Consumer Electronics

Retail Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving the strategy, execution and performance in their assigned business markets. They partner closely with their Market Directors, Market Leaders, Business Leaders, Store Management, Business Managers. They provide direct leadership to business leaders, and through them to the business managers and business teams in their markets. As a key member of the business leadership team, they work in partnership with the Market Directors, supporting them in developing a cohesive business strategy, driving the execution and delivering performance through their assigned markets.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for helping their assigned markets in deployment and refinement of the Apple Retail Business Vision and Strategy. They are responsible for partnering on commercial decision making, supporting worldwide programs, campaigns and initiatives within the guidelines set by the Retail Business Leadership. They also serve as the conduit and communication point back to Market Support representing the needs, challenges and unique opportunities of their regions and markets.



Key Qualifications




  • Thorough knowledge of Apple products and third-party solutions and their application in a business context.

  • Customer-facing information technology sales experience of 10 years, with preferences towards experience in targeting small and medium business.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with 5 years experience in a business sales management setting, including managing inside and outside sales roles.

  • Proven ability to develop, maintain and leverage strong business relationships through multiple customer levels.

  • Successful experience in managing and developing both inbound, outbound and account development sales strategies, with a thorough understanding of the complex sales cycle.

  • Preferred experience in building and developing new sales teams supporting a new strategic initiatives and selling collaboratively with business or channel partners

  • Strong clientele, interpersonal and team building experience.

  • Strong strategic and organizational skills, with the adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, ever-changing environment.

  • Excellent communication skills with business customers, store teams, leadership teams and corporate partners.




Description



Business Market Development:

- Driving retail business key metrics, to deliver high performance and creating the ultimate customer experience.

- Inspire, lead and drive passion for business at store and market level.

- Developing and Implementing business market plan in partnership with Market Director to deliver on performance, growth and key initiatives.

- Identifying opportunity and priority markets, and developing specific plans to drive results.

- Working with with the Market Directors to formulate quarterly focus and strategies to align with market direction, with constant evaluation and review through QBR’s.

- Provide strong leadership, coaching and active involvement in opportunities, which could involve, calls, customer meetings or customer visits with business managers and business leaders to support key opportunities and then working with market support to identify additional requirements to close the opportunity.

- Developing strong strategic partnerships with Enterprise, Education and Government Sales to drive One Apple strategies for growth and premier customer experience across all Apple Channels.

- Promote advanced teamwork between retail business leaders and market teams with Apple Inc field teams and partners.

- Leverage events, briefing rooms, Joint Venture and other Apple Retail programs to support One Apple strategy

- Working closely with market and store leadership to support results achievement and ensure focus and necessary enabling activities to support results achievement

- Acting as a conduit for business markets to retail market support resources and support required to achieve results

- Contributing to the development and refinement of Apple Retail business vision and strategy



Business Market Teams:

- In partnership with the market leadership, evaluate the business teams, identifying store growth opportunities, talent planning and headcount and growth.

- Provide clear team development through individual career experiences, clearly defined personal development plans tailored to each team member and supported by regular reviews.

- Working closely with market leadership, recruiting and HR, to build market succession plans to identify new business managers, business specialists, business leaders and solution engineer candidates and assist in the evaluation and on boarding process.

- Providing ongoing mentoring-coaching to business managers and business leaders in market on sales, account management, solution selling, relationship development, business development and people leadership.

- Evaluate, plan and coordinate training opportunities across all levels of business teams.

- Making sure that worldwide programs, campaigns and initiatives are effectively communicated, at all market and store leadership levels.

- Working with business leaders to establish weekly forecast and pipeline business reviews that can be shared with market leadership to drive performance.

- Working with market and store leadership and key business partners to tailor or select these campaigns and initiatives based on unique opportunities of markets within territory

- Working with Apple financial services, communication, operations, finance (headcount & targets), marketing, training, HR, developer relations, ACNs, product marketing, and supply chain to develop effective support for business teams.

- Working with market support and local teams to develop and execute unique campaigns or initiatives to develop specific market opportunities, or overcome unique challenges.

- Providing feedback to market support regarding the market deployment to assist in determining overall effectiveness, ROI and to drive ongoing improvement.

- Inspire, lead and drive the passion for business through market and store business leadership to deliver the ultimate customer experience.

Business Market Communication:

- Communicating and supporting all retail business programs and priorities.

- Collecting, grouping and summarising feedback from store leadership and store business teams and representing these interests with retail business market support team in strategy, planning and other team meetings

- Representing their business market needs to all groups within Apple Retail as needed, to support market success.



Education



BS/BA Degree or equivalent related experience.
