Market/Competive Intelligence Analyst

Washington D.C. Metro Area, US - Information Technology and Services

CSC is seeking a Market/Competitive Intelligence Analyst to join the NPS CI/PTW team. The preferred candidate serves an individual contributor with our organization, contributing to the overall success of the Competitive Intelligence/Price to Win team. He/she is a critical thinker and enthusiastic with a commitment to excellence. A successful candidate must possess a combination of strategic thinking and drive to achieve tangible business results



Essential Job Functions




  • Using the “tools of the trade” conduct competitive research and analysis to support the PTW analysis for specific government bids

  • Profile competitor management and technical approaches/solutions and assess relative strengths and weaknesses in the context of a specific bid

  • Prepare material for and participate in Black Hat reviews

  • Collect and analyze data on government customer budgets, spending, and industry benchmarks to support top-down PTW analysis

  • Collect and analyze competitor cost/price data to support bottom-up PTW analysis

  • Synthesize research and analysis into compelling deliverables that gets to the “so what”

  • Conduct market level analysis such as market sizing, trends, pricing, technology shifts, etc. in the government market

  • Conduct pipeline analysis to identify and prioritize opportunities

  • Develop creative approaches to address “hard to answer” research questions

Specific Requirements




  • Must possess the following competencies:



    • Strategic Marketing Skills: Understanding and experience of the government IT market with the ability to practically apply market knowledge.

    • Results-Oriented: A driver who possesses the ability to take actions and implement effective solutions in a timely manner

    • Problem Solver: A creative yet pragmatic problem solver. Methodical and hands-on as well as detail-oriented

    • Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills: A team player and builder, receptive to ideas from others. Shares information and keeps team members and partners informed. Works effectively with others to identify and resolve issues. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to interact successfully with a diverse work force

    • Ethics: Highest level of professional integrity and honesty, as well as personal credibility



  • At least 5 years demonstrated experience in conducting market & competitive intelligence in the government IT market.

  • Demonstrated experience in mining industry databases (GovWin, FPDS, etc.) to support qualitative and quantitative assessments and modeling in the government IT market.

  • Demonstrated understanding of government contracting and pricing concepts and price-to-win methodologies.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams.

  • 5 or more years working in a government contractor business development environment

  • Experience working with the IT services industry






Basic Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred

  • Twelve or more years of bid/capture management or related experience

  • Experience working with company products and services, delivery assurance, and industry standards on deliverables

  • Experience working with technology industry



    Other Qualifications


    • Strong communication skills to interact with and persuade team members and customers

    • Strong interpersonal, leadership and presentation skills for interacting with bid team members and clients

    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

    • Ability to create and maintain formal and informal networks

    • Ability to work in a team environment

    • Ability to produce high quality work products under pressure and within deadlines

    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and switch between tasks quickly

    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
