Hays are currently resourcing for a contract Finance Manger is to assist the Head of Finance in the controllership of the leading reinsurance firm by providing leadership to the financial accounting team to achieve defined outcomes and to establish effective communication within the business.
Prerequisites
* Life Insurance (or General Insurance) technical knowledge and experience.
* Tertiary qualification in accounting, and has completed a CPA or CA.
* At least 6+ years relevant experience.
* Excellent Excel skills.
* Good attention to detail.
* Flexible team player who enjoys working on complex and challenging issues.
* Ability to develop a good rapport with key stakeholders in the business.
Duties
* Oversight and maintenance of the GL.
* Knowledge and oversight of key finance and cross functional processes that impact on the production of the financial results.
* Identification of key risks within those processes that could impact the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of the financial results.
* Completion of all month end, quarter end and year-end financial accounting close procedures.
* Maintenance of financial records in accordance with appropriate laws and regulations (i.e including the calculation and recording of taxation).
* Completion of balance sheet reconciliations to the required corporate standard Accounting Guidance
* Completion of statutory financial reports and regulatory returns.
* Review for changes to accounting standards, corporate accounting policies, regulatory standards and relevant laws and regulations and assess the implications for RGA.
* Completion of analysis/commentary on investments for the investment committee.
* Ongoing improvement and streamlining of processes, procedures and reports that support the production of treasury and investment related information.
