Due to an incumbent on extended leave, this local council urgently require a Senior Development Assessment Planner to join their multi-disciplinary team to assist in the delivery of a multitude of development & urban planning projects. This opportunity is offered on an initial contract basis to start ASAP until October 2015. This opportunity has significant potential to be extended for 15 months.



The primary purpose for this role is to manage development applications on behalf of council, interpret relevant legislation and council policies and provide recommendations and technical advice on implications of conditions and application outcomes.



In this position you will be responsible for singing off code and impact assessable development applications, supervise junior DA planning officers and allocate workloads, prepare briefing notes and correspondence with councillors and developers and mediate any customer complaints or application issues that arise.



You will possess sound knowledge of local and Queensland state planning legislation and policies and the assessment of development applications from initial concept design, preparation, lodgement and administration through to approvals. Significant experience in these areas within a public sector environment in SEQ will put you in good stead for success in securing this opportunity.



Confident interpersonal skills and well developed written and verbal communication skills are imperative for achievement in these positions as well as an ability to apply conceptual and analytical skills to planning issues.
