In this highly visible role, you will manage and implement supplier quality from development through to mass production. You will utilize your Mechanical Engineering experience and work cross functionally with Product Design (PD) Engineering and Industrial Design to assess product features for manufacturability, and recommend capable process optimizations based on data collection and analysis. Role requires ability to work with cross-functional teams in US, Asia and with suppliers to ensure high quality products.

Description



Key activities will include;

-Working onsite with suppliers to set up process controls, data collection, failure analysis, corrective action and reporting for early detection and correction, continual improvement.



-Evaluate suppliers’ processes and process controls to ensure product quality and reliability is built-into the product.



-Review Supplier’s test plan and ensure that this meets Apple’s product requirements



-Monitor supplier’s performance through measurement of statistical process control, process inspections and audits. Advise and drive corrective actions.



-Interface with component suppliers, OEMS and PD Engineering team to resolve complex manufacturing process quality and reliability issues, utilizing DOE and statistical approach. Provide technical and systems support related to both quality systems and technical product related issues



-Support new product builds at OEMS. Support current products: Monitor on-going quality, follow up on open issues, and drive improvements. Data analysis and reporting



Supplier Execution:
 Review supplier metrology design, process flow, GR&R, Quality Plan, and yield studies. Identify shortfalls and corrective actions to ensure design compliance. Work with quality teams to map out quality plan, secure resources, and commit to schedules in line with program goals
. Assess supplier readiness to support build events and production ramp. Identify potential execution issues and provide recommendations to mitigate risk.



Must have a demonstrated hands-on quality engineering ability. Demonstrate excellent English written and verbal communication skills – Additional written and verbal Chinese is preferred but not essential. Experience with highly cosmetic parts a plus. Some experience in a manufacturing environment of automotive interiors, high-end soft goods, and sportswear products is a plus.

Requirements:
 *Typically requires 5 experience supporting new product launches from a mechanical engineering or quality engineering perspective.
*Experience with mechanical fabricated parts, or adhesives, glues, jigs, fixtures, tooling, injection molding, plastics experience is required.

* Prefer a solid understanding of DOE, GD&T, SPC techniques.
* BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science, MS in those areas is a plus
