Network Engineer

The Kier IT department is based at the company headquarters in Sandy, Bedfordshire, and at a large office in Norwich. The IT team is embarking on several substantial projects and a major overhaul of its operations, which has resulted in the creation of the following new role.



Network Engineer



£35,000 - £45,000



Kier now have the need for 2 x Network Engineers to join their already established team at their head office in Sandy, Bedfordshire. The key requirement for this position is for a candidate to be from a Cisco networking background with a CCNA/CCNP qualification (or the equivalent).



This role will be a varied position, so will require an experience engineer. Daily tasks will involve documenting and monitoring IP addressing for Kier, managing and monitoring the Wireless networks and devices, monitoring and managing the Data Centre switches and supporting infrastructure, remote site circuits and network infrastructure monitoring and maintenance.



In order to be successful you will have the ability of working independently and using your own initiative, but also work as part of the team, supporting other team members and working alongside the vendors. You will be required to follow established procedures in the creation of detailed change management documentation, and in planning and implanting complex modifications to the network environment.



Key Tasks:

* Ensure LAN network support contract is delivered against business requirements and ensure changes to the contract are managed through the lifecycle.

* Work with event and incident management, Service Desk and other technical teams when sensitive issues arise or a major problem is suspected.

* Provide detailed and effective communication to internal teams and clients.

* Adhere to, modify, or develop standards and procedures governing the installation, configuration and operation of Network Operating Systems.
