Purchasing Manager

This newly created position presents an exciting opportunity. A rapidly growing, dynamic national foodservice business, based in Box near Bath, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join an expanding team.



Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role will assist in setting strategy and direction for the purchasing function - this function being the core competency of the business.



The position has great career potential and would suit an ambitious professional looking to make an impact.



The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:



- A proven track-record of supplier management in a commercial environment

- A hands-on approach

- Strong numeracy skills

- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills

- Analytical ability, and able to demonstrate reasoned decision making

- Exemplary attention to detail

- Capable of working under pressure and to deadlines

- Outstanding time management and delivery



CIPS qualifications and experience in the foodservice sector are preferred.



The remit and responsibilities of this role include:



- Appraising and performance managing existing supply base

- Identifying new suppliers of value to our Clients

- Agreeing, implementing and managing contracts with suppliers

- Visiting Supplier premises and improving supply relationships

- Visiting Clients to understand their needs

- Regular negotiation on terms and prices with Suppliers

- Forecasting price trends and identifying mitigation activity

- Developing purchasing strategy and communicating it to the team

- Producing reports and statistics

- Delivery of agreed financial objectives

- Writing and managing tender activities

- Training and supervising other members of the team
