Description

The MSDU R&D Software Development Engineer will be part of a team that designs, implements, and tests industry leading management software for storage device systems. The principle areas of responsibility are services and components that are part of an extensible management framework to be used across specific storage products within the HP Storage Division. This framework will also integrate with other management software within HP, including the HP Converged ecosystem and HP Software products. The MSDU R&D Software Development Engineer is responsible for the design, technical planning, development and test for their assigned areas.

Responsibilities

• System software development as part of a multi-geographic project team responsible for delivering multiple products including new development and sustaining efforts.
  


• Assist in the setting and tracking of schedules
  


• Report status, issues, and risks of programs on a regular basis
  


• Assist in identifying and implementing project to project improvements
  


• Working with technical leads across programs to drive the determination of technical requirements and development plans for their areas of responsibility.
  


• Coordinate with the larger HP Storage and Enterprise Group technical community as required.
  


• Understand storage solution capabilities and the interaction of the management software.
  


• Openly share new ideas and contribute to the overall success of the team.
  


• Work with teams in multiple sites.
  


• Work within the HP Storage governance process.
  

Qualifications
Education and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, or equivalent


• Minimum 4-6 years experience

Knowledge and Skills

• Minimum of 5 years in a development position on a systems/software engineering development team
  


• Demonstrated ability to design, develop and deliver final product quality code on schedule
  


• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment utilizing collaboration skills; demonstrated ability to do so across complex organizations is highly desired
  


• Experience with high level object oriented development; experience in Java is highly desired
  


• Experience with web services development is highly desired; experience with REST-ful web services is desired
  


• Experience in development methods to ensure software quality; experience working with software quality assurance
  


• Experience with agile development methodology is desired
  


• Experience in Linux based SW development is desired
  


• Storage industry experience and/or data center experience is desired
  


• Strong written and verbal communication skills
  


• Global development experience is desired.
