Creative Developer

This role is an exciting opportunity to have a hands-on role within the Creative team for a leading Augmented Reality product. Using a creative mind, this role will be focussed on building rich interactive in-app experiences as well as helping with the app’s development.

A strong passion for technology is important, whilst learning new skills and techniques that can be utilised effectively in many settings. Fluent in digital languages are required, as are the expertise to work with creative software.

You must also be a great communicator, as collaboration with different teams is an everyday expectation, and demonstrating innovative expertise is not uncommon. The ability to stick to deadlines and stay within budgets is also crucial.

Aurasma customers come from various backgrounds including retail, technology, automotive, entertainment and the arts. Customer projects may include web sites, games, helping to develop apps as well as creating various experiences which push the boundaries of AR to catch the eye of an audience.

Responsibilities:

• Explain technical concepts to other non-technical staff, particularly designers

• Contributing to the company development standards working closely with the Head of Creative Services, as well as with the Head of Development when required

• Providing accurate timing estimates on work

• Contributing to documentation (instructional, pitch and technical specification)

• Discussing technical solutions with clients and providing innovative new ideas

• Attending meetings and briefings with clients and peers

• Maintaining a high awareness of industry issues and trends

• Being excited about emerging technologies specifically AR as well as HTML5, VR and Blended Reality and keeping team members informed as appropriate, with a view to incorporating these in future projects to stay ahead of the market

• Constantly seeking to develop yourself by learning new technologies, software and scripting skills



Qualifications
Skills required:



• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Confidence to express ideas as part of a creative team

• A clear and genuine knowledge of technology and digital tools

• The ability and dedication to meet deadlines

• Previous experience in both IOS and Android App development

• Coding experience in at least one of the following: perl, ruby, python, JavaScript

• A passionate approach to work with a desire to push boundaries

• The ability to explain technical jargon to peers and clients

• A full understanding of the structure of web, app and other digital projects



Desired skills:



• Experience using Word Press

• Experience of imagemagick / ffmpeg/ similar tools

• Experience with Game / Realtime Engines and / or Computer Graphics concepts

• Knowledge of the Autodesk family of software products, specifically 3ds Max, Maya, & AutoCAD

• Knowledge of the Adobe suites such as Photoshop and Illustrator

• Writing plugins for 3D authoring packages (writing an Aurasma 3D exporter/convertor)



Required work experience:



It’s not really about the number of years of experienc . It’s more about what your technical capability and demonstrable experience, the types of project size you’ve worked on, your knowledge of scripting, your ability to turn around a project, and also your strengths.
