Senior Mechanical Engineer

The data center industry is undergoing a rapid and significant transformation that will address the need for facilities that are modular, energy-efficient, cost effective, scalable, and reliable. Moreover, Converged Infrastructure and the growth of the cloud as a means to deliver IT services also has an impact. We are looking for a senior Mechanical Engineer who will be able to deliver designs of mechanical Data Center infrastructure. He/she needs to be able to deliver conceptual designs and execute peer reviews of detailed designs, including specifications, calculations, cost modeling. So the senior Mechanical engineer needs to have experience in data center mechanical infrastructure design, specification of the capacity components, and relevant knowledge of cooling options, PUE calculations and tradeoffs.

Critical Facilities is part of EG and is the Market Offering which focuses at design of and consultancy on data center facility infrastructure. This includes the power and cooling facilities.
Key Responsibilities :
• Deliver conceptual designs of the mechanical infrastructure, for data centers for HP’s customers. This requires the engineer to be familiar with all applicable international standards, such as TIA 942, and the Uptime Institute defined Tier levels.
• Passion for and expert knowledge of the available technologies on the market and the latest developments and innovation in these technologies for cooling solutions etc.
• Peer review or detailed designs by third parties, internal or external, leading to final sign off of the detailed designs.
• Preferably having project management skills to manage quality, budget, resources and lead times for the M&E designs for data centers.
• Uses ability as an educated, skilled specialist to contribute to the development of new concepts/techniques and to complete assignments/tasks in innovative and effective ways.
• Works on those assignments that are complex in nature where a high degree of independent judgment, initiative and technical knowledge are required to resolve problems.
• Completes work independently and has ability to handle most unique situations independently
• Determines methods and procedures for new assignments.
Qualifications
• Experience in DC facilities, operations, IT infrastructure and applications , bridging the facilities and IT world
• Academic education, University degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably a Master’s degree.
• Prior data center design experience and understanding of DC designs, and the main design parameters
• Understanding of climatic impact on DC design
• Excellent and proven project management skills
• Preferably an Uptime Institute Certification
