We are looking for talented and keen technologists to join our Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Openstack technical operations team to build the next-generation OpenStack cloud computing platform. You'll be taking on an eclectic mixture of tasks, software, and systems – all while wearing several hats – and will be helping to design, build, and maintain the core OpenStack IaaS services in a highly complex and massive scale platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Senior OpenStack Operations Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Top-Tier OpenStack System Administration: operation, maintenance, and support of the high-availability services platforms (Nova, Swift, Cinder, Neutron, Glance, etc.) located in remote Data Centers across multiple time zones.
- Support the Cloud Operations team’s activities including monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, capacity management, and provisioning.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting in-house and 3rd party software, working with both internal/external groups to ensure our stack is effectively integrated, configured, managed, and supported in production.
- Liaising between different teams to help understand cross-functional requirements and contribute to discussions and planning as required to change those goals into reality.
- Completing tasks assigned by manager on schedule, communicating progress regularly.
- Authoring and updating high-quality documentation of all relevant specifications, systems and procedures.
- May require evening and weekend work as needed to support business. On-call is possible.
Qualifications
- Able to perform assigned technical responsibilities independently to completion.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a role with responsibility for operating Linux systems at scale. Common System Administration duties including installation, maintenance, tuning, security, and high availability configuration.
- Expert troubleshooting skills. A focus on critical thinking. Ability to isolate faults at all levels of a complex technical stack, from hardware to end user experience.
- Strong virtualization knowledge; QEMU/KVM preferred. Familiarity with cloud computing concepts.
- Demonstrable requisite knowledge to manage Storage, Network, and Server equipment, including, but not limited to, iSCSI, RAID, VLANs, IPv4 subnetting, NIC Bonding.
- Solid knowledge of technical operations procedures and best practices is essential; ITIL exposure is a plus.
- Experience working customer facing issues in high-pressure situations.
- Experience with infrastructure automation (Chef, CFEngine, Puppet, etc)
- Strong familiarity with scripting languages including shell.
- Brownie points for any one or combination of the following:
- Prior OpenStack experience or knowledge.
- Python experience.
- Knowledge of Linux system calls and kernel tuning.
- Experience with RESTful APIs.
- IPv6 knowledge.
