Technical Services Engineer 2LS - Guildford

This role sits within Shere, the self-service and digital signage business unit within Worldline UK. We specialise in the design and supply of rail ticketing, self-service kiosks and interactive digital displays.

The technical services team sits under the delivery management within the Shere organisation.



The Shere customer estate consists of an infrastructure of physical or virtual servers that are either client-hosted or reside in our 3rd party data centre. Each kiosk or interactive display contains a PC as part of its configuration. Combined, these elements form the infrastructure that needs to be managed.



This is a full time permanent role based from our office in Guildford



The Technical Services Engineers is a key role within the Shere organisation, responsible for the day to day operations of technical services to their customers. Primarily this involves:




  • Investigating, troubleshooting and fixing 2nd line support issues



  • Managing the escalated call queue



  • Finding solutions to support calls



  • Pre-emptive System Monitoring



  • Participate with on call duties



  • Setting best practices and standards



  • Provide after-hours support as required

  • Ad hoc project work as required



  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by manager.





  • Job Requirements

    • Hold industry level qualifications or equivalent work experience.

    • Willing to travel as necessary in line with business needs

    • Technical focus and drive

    • A track record in creating and/or maintaining technical customer solutions based on Microsoft technologies

    • Professional and dynamic approach, demonstrates a clear passion for delivering world class IT services and solutions




    Leadership




    • A team player capable of working as part of a team, able to influence work colleagues

    • Ability to think outside of the box and apply technology to solve issues

    • Quality control and assurance

    • Capable of articulating the precise nature of any given situation appropriately to the target audience whether technical or non-technical.

    • Experience and understanding of the following technologies

    • Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (XP, Windows 7, Server 2008, 2012)

    • IP Networking

    • Desktop build, image management & release control

    • WSUS & Patch Management, imaging



    • Desirable




      • Experience of working for an organisation in the IT services or consultancy arena

      • Experience and understanding of the following technologies

      • MS SQL Server 2000/2008 and later,

      • Reporting and transaction monitoring

      • Scalability and capacity management

      • Licence monitoring

      • ISA Server/TMG/Third party firewalls

      • Awareness and appreciation of potential commercial implications of issues or decisions that are being made.

      • PowerShell or other Scripting tool
